Hello! I am a proud mom of three kids. We were blessed to call Quadra Island our home for almost 30 years. The Quadra Children’s Center was a big part of our lives while we lived there. All three of my children attended the childcare centre. As my children grew, surrounded by caring teachers in their early years I began to appreciate the importance of this work and wanted to be a part of it. I received my Early Childhood Educator’s certificate in 1992. I am passionate about children and their innate abilities and unique gifts they possess. My philosophy is based on and is continually inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach. This philosophy sees children as capable beings full of potential. I spent many years at the Quadra Children’s Center immersed in this philosophy with like-minded educators while filling different roles within the centre, teaching in both the 3-5 program and the after school program. The outdoor environment and the beautiful forests which surround the centre was our ‘third teacher’ and we spent many hours each day exploring, playing and learning in this natural environment. After moving to Campbell River in 2011, I had the opportunity to be a part of creating a play-based early years program at the Willow Point Children’s Center which included loads of outside time in all kinds of weather, year-round. It has been my honour to be a part of the Hand-In-Hand Nature Education here in Campbell River since 2016. I look forward every day to facilitating curiosity and wonder with your children as we play and learn together about each other and the natural environment.
