Animal Forms

Move like an animal! For this nature-based activity, head outside and into a forest or onto a beach where you can walk quickly, run, jog or hike.

The goal is for children to stay in motion for several minutes at a time. One person is in charge of calling out actions for your child(ren) to perform. For example:

– “Jump high off the ground like a mule deer!”

– “Move silently and stealthy like a fox.”

– “Take giant steps like an elephant!”

– “Swing through the vines like a monkey.”

– “Crawl like crocodile.”

Mimic the animals you see on your walks. What does a raven sounds like? How does a deer run?

Make animal forms with your body parts! Take turns in making your animal and have the rest of your family guess what animal you are.
